While working on a film about Viktor Yanukovych's residence for 1+1, director Yulia Shashkova visited Mezhyhirya several times. The authors of the film draw parallels between life in luxurious Mezhyhirya and simple Yenakiyevo, where Viktor Yanukovych's parents ' house is in ruins.
